Love the Mac > Tryouts
[Nothing to Say and Saying It Loudly] I am trying out Quicksilver, which really efficient people seem to love. I am not sure whether I do enough repetitive tasks to need it though. Then again, I am not sure what it actually does, since no one, not even the company can provide a succinct and clear description.
[Previous] Water + Keyboard = Not Good...
[Next] It's almost the Grail....
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Bfroehle.com] Brad Froehle: At first, I must admit that it doesn’t seem like there is a whole lot new. Spotlight is neat, but I already had much of that functionality with Quicksilver. Dashboard is a good idea, but I’m not sure I’ll work it into my daily routine quite yet.
[Yin.typepad.com] The Yin Blog: Fox's "American Idol" season 4: I liked guest judge Mark McGrath -- he wasn't nasty, but when singers were *bad*, he didn't give them false hope. I still think Simon is the best judge of talent, and there were some borderline singers that McGrath voted through to Hollywood that I wouldn't have, but he was WAY better than most of the previous guest judges. And better than Paula, too.
[Yin.typepad.com] The Yin Blog: January 2005: Still, a colleague's account about the movie "Troy" suggests that Hollywood completely mangled the story of the Trojan War. No Greek gods and goddesses? No Diomedes? Messing with the timeline so that Achilles is there in the Trojan Horse? Egad. Former blogger The Angry Clam, who was a classics major in college, would no doubt explode in rage had he bothered to watch this movie.
[Yin.typepad.com] The Yin Blog: Reality TV: I didn't blog about last week's episode, but in case you missed it (or you get your Apprentice info from me), the task was to remodel homes and see which team generated more profits in doing so. Raj led Apex and Sandy (?!?) led Mosaic. Raj's downfall was two-fold: first, he let law student Kevin talk him into using a particular contractor even though he (Raj) had a bad feeling about the guy; and second, he turned a four bedroom house into a three bedroom house. The contractor overpromised, and Raj never went out to get more contractors to help out (as Andy did on behalf of Mosaic). As a result, the upper level bathroom project was left unfinished at the deadline! Also, while I'm all for nice big master bedrooms, four rooms are better than three.
[Amrys.devl.org] AmShazam.: February 2005 Archives: Then a blur — nothing until the walk homeward, which is mostly the realization that tentative snow has begun to fall, and the consequent upturning of eyes and lashes. There is also music, a song that has been floating about for days, this circular design, followed by others, a curious sudden attention to the words, I've been wading in the velvet sea, accompanied by a similar pointedness of feeling, as though disembodied, observing oneself walking homeward, past couples in restaurants, completely transfixed by the impossible slowness with which the snow seems to fall in the crepuscular light, under the orange cones of streetlamps. This happens again, later, on the way back from the coffeeshop, steaming cup held firmly in both bare hands, eyes uplifted, lips catching enormous flakes by accident. Somewhere in between is a memory, an astonishment at the way hands fit together, some kind of exercise in permutations, at the sheer human capacity for holding oneself together when the situation seems more conducive to flying apart in a goddamned sunburst, all directions — still a good thing however you look at it.
