The 17”³ PowerBook goes on the auction block
[yep, thats me] I placed my 17″ PowerBook G4 1GHz on eBay today. I held onto it for a while though I didn’t use it, but I have finally gotten around to selling it. It will be the first thing to go in my hardware consolidation initiative.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[What is that, to be over 30 and not know where you'll be in a month or two?] The perfect laptop bag?: It has carry handles and a shoulder strap (which comes with Timbuk2's really neat Quick-Adjust system). It has 2 zip pockets on the bag, one front and one back. The back one is has nothing in it so it's ideal for slipping all those unpaid bills into that you're going to pay this week, honest love. The front one has a couple of little things in it for storing your phone, keys and pens in, but again - it's simple.
[e n | x | e n d u b] Hooked: But that reminds me….I need a new one at home! My aging G4 500 Dual Processor is really starting to chap ye old balls. I dream of a G5….please put it in the PowerBook! I really don’t want to buy a desktop computer again, since mass storage via FireWire is so cheap and accessible, and it would be quite easy to implement a docking solution so that I could still have a big screen to stare at at home.
[Ants4pets.com] Things to look at:: the Dell Inspiron 9200 portable with the top-of-the-line 17” screen PowerbookG4. Again, these are virtually identical computers as far as their specs. The Powerbook is $961 (55%) more expensive than... you for shopping Wal-Mart!” Crazy Ebay Lady - “And heres my moms bedroom. You were probably
[Tbotcotw.com] The Blog of the Century of the Week: I’m trying to round up some extra scratch by selling parts from my broken Powerbook on eBay. If you have a 15-inch Titanium Powerbook that needs parts, essentially anything besides the motherboard, have a look. I haven’t listed the LCD yet, if you write to me soon I’ll give you a deal.
[Javarants.com] Ordered a new Powerbook G4 yesterday: With that in mind, I imagine they will be shipping in the fall, likethe last release of the G5s and I can pick up a new desktop box at the end ofSeptember. My current guess for Powerbook G5s is January. I'll let that lie, make sure there are no big issues like heat or other problems that can occur inthe first release, and get a new laptop when they release the second generationof G5 laptops at the end of next year. Should work out perfectly:)
[Adzoox.com] JackWhispers / MacWhispers: Lastly, I'd like to say something sort of unrelated, but merits mention - as I am an Apple parts dealer on eBay - selling or buying a PowerBook on eBay or Yahoo auctions is the riskiest thing you could POSSIBLY do. If you even bid in ANY POWERBOOK auction or SELL ANY PowerBook (newer than 3 years) you are deluged with offers from Romania for $800 PowerBook G4 17".
[Samoht.com] samoht.com weblog : /Computing/Mac/: Probably what has made the biggest first impression is the solidity and quality feel of the keyboard. I was happy with the keyboard on the iBook (although it was panned by MacWorld earlier this year), but the one on the PowerBook is a revelation. I've also been pleasantly surprised by the lack of significant heat while I've used it on my lap. I was afraid I'd been spoiled by the iBook's cool-running nature, but the PowerBook hasn't gotten unreasonably warm, so far (but I must admit I set the power saving features to use a lower processor speed, so maybe that's why it's running relatively cool).
[Drewhamlin.com] Drew Hamlin - Blog: I just pulled everything off my second hardrive and all of my data was intact. The same can't be said about the PowerBook though. I could replace the hard drive and keep going, but I've decided to go a different direction. I'm going to sell my perfect-condition Power Mac G5 (gasp, I know, everyone tells me I'm insane) and my less-than-perfect condition PowerBook G4 and purchase a brand new PowerBook G4.
