[Rage3D Discussion Area] Update: AVG Virus Scanner Accidentally Removes Critical Windows ...: Vista users can breathe a sigh of relief -- so far that OS has remained relatively unaffected. Windows XP users, however must now exercise extreme caution, or risk having to carry out a bothersome repair process.
[Switch To A Mac] Why Are Macs Becoming More Popular? - Switch To A Mac: all I knew for sure was that the day Tiger came out, I was waiting in line in SoHo to pick up my brand new Mac mini :) In the 18 months since then, I've added a MBP to retire my old Vaio laptop, and convinced my parents to retire their XP box in favor of a shiny G5 iMac (which was bought 4 weeks before the iSight iMacs were released d'oh!)....

[Plastic Bugs] Top 10 Things All Switchers Should Know | Plastic Bugs: Amusing example: one of my (switcher) friends was fooling around with Pages (that’s Wordò - please do not comment on this) and after trying too hard he asked me how in god’s name he could change his header’s picture of a template into his own made header image. You should have seen his face when I dragged ‘n dropped his image onto the picture he wanted to change: it turned from “What is he doing?”, over “Why didn’t I think of that?”, to “Cool!”
[MacInTouch] Security: Apple Security Updates: I trustingly d/l'd the 2006-007 Security Update onto my 4-week-old MBP 2.33GHz, and it totally wonked several apps that I use regularly: my entire MS Office suite (Word, Entourage, which I use for e-mails, etc.) Snapz Pro, Now Up-To-Date which is my calendar program and used to sync my Palm, and Tex-Edit Plus. None of these would even open to use in any fashion, and nothing worked to enable them (repair permissions, fsck -y, Disk Warrior, Disk Utility repair, zapping PRAM, etc.) I d/l'd OS X 10.4.8 Combo update for Intel (as advised on MacFixIt.com), but running this gave an error message that my MBP wasn't "compatible"
[Smashing Magazine] Top 10 Usability Highs Of Mac OS | Events | Smashing Magazine: I don’t want to turn this article into some endless rambling about how great Mac is, but as the user of both systems I can speak from my own experience quite objectively. Let’s take a look at some of the spots where Apple really has done it better in terms of user interface and usability.
[AspNetResources.com articles, news and updates] ASP.NET Resources - Vista Sucks: Not to mention, later this year, Ubuntu is expected to have drivers in their next version that will run internal modems and wireless network cards that have previously never been able to work under Linux -- and my oldest sister-in-law and her husband and family live in a place where they can't get DSL, so they're still on dialup for now, given that they live out in the boonies...
[Windows Vista Team Blog] Windows Vista Content Protection - Twenty Questions (and Answers ...: This is quite significant as I often find myself using different computers to do things for work and home --- leaving really only one version that i can use --- the most expensive --- only problem is that I cant afford the most expensive for all of my computers nor can i anticipate what i might need a computer for in the future--- further, i sometimes find relatives and friends wanting a piece of software I have to try on thier own computers--- but if home version will not support it --- they are now out of luck --- they cant even try it---- what happen to the operating system that allowed someone to do anything on thier computer --- it sure seems like we are going in the wrong direction.
