QuickTime 7 Disappointments
[Robert Accetturas Fun With Wordage] I installed Tiger on my Mac mini, and was impressed with the H.264 codec, despite it not really supporting my mac mini (not enough CPU apparently, even though it’s rather new) and still working fairly well. When the Windows preview came out, I naturally installed it and gave it a go.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[David Appleyard - Blog Portfolio] Dashboard Dilemma: I’ve really enjoyed most of the new features which are packaged with OS X Tiger, but one I have never really fallen in love with is Dashboard. Although there are some useful widgits (calculator, yellow pages etc), most of them are very much gimmicks.
[Tuaw.com] The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW): The Mac mini, (not minimac), doesnt come with 512, it comes with 256mb standard. It doesnt cost 400 dollars to upgrade the mac ram, it costs 2xx on the apple site but you can buy it anywhere for less than that.*If you're willing to install it yourself* Now, if you think they're overcharging for the Mac mini you are absolutely insane.
[Intelliot.com] Elliot Lees Blog » Blog Archive » Impressed by the Mac mini: It turns out that the Mac mini automatically redetects the display attached and adjusts the display modes appropriately, not only on bootup, but on waking up from sleep mode as well. If the current resolution is one unsupported by the connected display, OS X automatically changes to a resolution that is supported.
[Nodrm.com] noDRM.com » Blog Archive » Plasma Mounted Mac mini: First, I discovered that when I removed the DVI cable from back of the Mini and connected the DVI for the SONY, the Mac Mini would in fact recognize the SONY as a 1920X1080 display and sync to that setting, not retaining the setting from the previous monitor. However the SONY will not function at 1080p (only 1080i is supported in the Sony) so the screen was always black.
[Ramblings.aaronballman.com] Ramblings » Blog Archive » Mac Mini and Tiger Review: However, my PC (105-key, standard) keyboard sucks when working on the Mac because half the keys aren’t behaving as expected. The Cmd key is the PC key (so it’s in the wrong physical position from a Mac keyboard), Home and End don’t actually DO anything (but Page Up/Down do), etc.
