Love the Mac > Power Mac G5: Any way to switch out case fans so it's quieter?

MacNN Forumshttp://forums.macnn.com/65/mac-pro-and-power-mac/360472/power-mac-g5-any-way-switch/ [MacNN Forums] Is there any way to swap out the fans (maybe for a newer version fan or a newer one of the same fan) to make it quieter? I don't have a fan on the graphics card, and the noise isn't from anything else other than the case fans.

Maybe some research on google can help you figure out how to reset this service because it sounds like somethings stuck.

Neil Duffin Blog[Neil Duffin Blog] Shhhh!: There is a big difference in the noise levels. The fan is still not as quite as the heat-sink only cooling of the 6600/256 but it is a lot quieter than the original Apple 7800GT fan.

The Life Electronic[The Life Electronic] ”˜Sayonara’ to the Xserve: The major noise-offenders were the blowers and the PSU fan- the blowers spun so fast that they vibrated the case slightly, and the PSU fan was just loud in general (worst when you stood behind the unit.) I spent some time looking around the web for alternative blowers and fans, but in the end I gave up again. I imagined using 3rd party parts and at best shorting something out and at worst starting a major fire.

Exigency In Specie[Exigency In Specie] New Mac: Speed wise the G5 streaks along compared to the old G4 in the eMac, making some of the newer games with which the eMac struggled a lot better. Noise wise it is quieter than the eMac, which due to the CRT needed a massive fan to keep it .
