[Idyllopus - meanwhile back at the ranch] It is not “real life” - it is what we’ve been educated to believe is “real life”: The only reason I do believe it is because I got caught once in one of those bargain basement sales where they open the doors and everything designer was half-price or something, and I was clueless about any of it, being a hippie, being the 70s, as I got swept into the eye of the hurricane and saw grown women beating each other (and me) up for rags and purses, shredding, tearing, cussing, physically assaulting each other with such carefree abandon that it almost seemed for them a natural state to find themselves in when not pretending to be a trophy wife giving dinner parties in an alternate parallel universe and in such shock was I to see this other side of humanity’s elite, that it took me what seemed an eternity to dislodge myself from the center of the fracas, bruised, scraped and bleeding.

http://fluffyasacat.blogspot.com [fluffy as a cat] an' iffin you don't get no ahh-book then don't bother comin' home, maw.: An estimated 5,500 people turned out at the Richmond International Raceway in hopes of getting their hands on one of the 4-year-old Apple iBooks. The Henrico County school system was selling 1,000 of the computers to county residents.

[Tuaw.com] The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW): The way the county decided to dump these products for Dell computers and sell off their iBooks for fifty bucks is rediculous all in itself, then the way they set up the sale and executed it is truly rediculous and finally, all of the people who traveled long distances to get one of these iBooks and then trampling people in the process, rediculous. The only thing that shocks me is that Apple had nothing to do with all of this madness.
