In the sense that they they don'tthink of original ideas and they don't bring much culture into theirproduct ehm and you say why is that important - well you knowproportionally spaced fonts come from type setting and beautiful books, that's where one gets the idea - if it weren't for the Mac they wouldnever have that in their products and ehm so I guess I am saddened, notby Microsoft's success - I have no problem with their success, they'veearned their success for the most part.

[TheAppleBlog] Why Not to Buy a Mac (Now): Something not to expect this spring, and that is suspect this year, would be Macs with Blu-ray. Just last month, it was attributed to Steve Jobs that Blu-ray is still a “mess,” and that Apple is waiting until Blu-ray sales “take off.”

[Low End Mac] Importance of G3 Support in 10.5, Clever USB/FireWire Solution ...: I am hoping that the Sonnet 7200 PCI slot accelerator willalso work in the 6500. If it does, it should also get around thememory problem in the 6500 and the 2k DIMMs, because the G3 boardcomes with its own memory slots supporting up to 384 megs of RAM inaddition to motherboard RAM, which should give enough room forTiger to run in.

[Panic Blog] Panic Blog » Mac OS X Stats: 12/2009: We keep a G3 iMac running in OS 9, constantly, for several administrative apps that have never been bettered (like Quicken 98!) I know this does not help Apple’s churn, but we feel better about them for making good computers with such longevity and we recommend them a lot.

[Design Credo Development Blog» Andrew Butler, Design, Photography, Topsham, Devon] Some Things Should Change, but stay the same.: Macs have always had a very visual appeal, there is a strong visual metaphor and I suspect that for this reason they appeal to very different people. I am always surprised when I hear people complain about how difficult macs are to get to grips with, for me at least they seem very intuitive.

[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] Your first Apple, or how it all began...: When she delivered it, she presented it to me as a gift "For all the times you let me borrow your Volkswagen on Saturday nights so I could go out with my friends." [The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] Happy 25th Birthday, Mac!: In middle school, there were a plethora of Macs, from classics, to LCIIs, the Power Mac 6200 (worst Mac ever) was put into the main computer lab at the beginning of 7th grade, and nerd that I was, I was a Technology Assistant and helped not only set-up those Macs, but get them working on the network (which was kind of a chore as networking was not those machines strong points), and putting Windows 3.11 on the PC card that had been ordered for about half the machines. Control-Command-W, sms17 was the key command to get into the Windows half.

[Low End Mac] The Last MDD Power Mac, Windows Death Spiral, Thoughts on ...: Comparing the distribution of Windows Vista to the distribution ofMac OS is like comparing Apples to oranges - Microsoft specificallylicenses its software, and it is not a hardware provider for devicesrunning its own OS's, except for maybe the Xbox. Apple, on the otherhand, requires in its license that the Apple OS run onApple-manufactured hardware.

[Cult of Mac] Apple's History: A Product Strategy Roadmap | Cult of Mac: Arguments could be made that the Newton started its own line (design, function, technology) while the TAM’s design was essentially a laptop display on a desktop machine (and thus followed more closely by the 2002 iMac than the Cube) so it’s predecessor could either be a PowerBook or an all-in-one desktop. My final years at that school only showed me one more Mac, one type of Mac that no others except faculty could use, the 17-inch iMac G4.
