Apple opens up iTunes LP to you and me
[CrunchGear] It looks remarkably straightforward and there’s no flimflam to be found on the iTunes LP for Developers page, so I think that it really is what it looks like. They’ve included some templates and design guidelines as well, and you better stick to them;

Apple iTunes Pitch: TV for $30 Per Month | Peter Kafka | MediaMemo ...
[MediaMemo] Industry executives believe that if anyone jumps first, it will be Disney (DIS), since CEO Bob Iger has shown a willingness to experiment with Apple and iTunes in the past: In 2005, Disney was the first player to sell its programming on iTunes, via a-la-carte downloads. And Apple CEO Steve Jobs is Disney’s largest single shareholder, a result of Disney’s 2006 acquisition of Jobs’s Pixar animation studio.

Ask TUAW: WiFi on an older PowerMac, creating contact sheets ...
[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] It seems that iTunes treats iPhone applications more or less the same it treats music tracks. So if you right-click on an app and choose to delete it, iTunes will ask you if you want to move it to the Trash or leave it in your Mobile Applications folder (generally ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications).

Apple ditching DRM? 3G iTunes downloads?
[Untitled] Some other sources apparently claim that Apple will be unveiling over-the-air iTunes purchases. This was thought to be restricted because of the high cost incurred by carriers. That would be another blow to alternative online retailers, because Apple would probably work really hard to make the iPhone client for iTunes super good, and then “accidentally”

[macosx.com] I first noticed little error signs next to my RSS feeds the day after my mail showed 500 messages being downloaded although none appeared (I average 3 mailings a day of email). Since then I get an error message when trying to get updates or accessing the itunes store.

Apple Rejects MailWrangler App for "Leading to User Confusion"
[Gizmodo: not Cellphones] Apple's iPhone Mail app isn't bad, but for those of us looking to use advanced Gmail functions (like managing multiple accounts or starring items), an app named MailWrangler would fill in the gaps...that is, if Apple hadn't rejected the application from their iTunes store. Here is the message sent from Apple to the developer, six weeks after the program was submitted to iTunes:

'Mobile Me' the new name of .Mac?
[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] I can understand that if it's going to be used for devices other than "Macs" then the name doesn't make so much sense, but that doesn't seem to be an issue with iTunes - which as we know does a hell of a lot more than just Tunes.

Do Microsoft Employees Use (and Love) Mac OS X?
![]()
[Chris Pirillo] iTunes is a must-have app on Windows for those folks who carry around iPods or iPhones without a Mac lying around. I’m not saying that I like it (I don’t, on either Windows or OS X) - just that users have a clear reason to have iTunes installed and running on either OS.

Freezing the play order of a shuffled iTunes playlist
[Ölbaum's Delirium] The problem with shuffled playlists in iTunes is that if I quit iTunes at the end of the day, relaunch it the next day and want to resume playing the same playlist where I left it, iTunes will shuffle it again, meaning I'm likely to hear songs I already heard the day before. On the other hand, if I turn shuffle off, it will sort the songs in the order I put them when I created the playlist, which is likely to be in Artist/Album order since this is how I browse my library when making a playlist.

growl 0.7: why I love notification
[walkah | striving towards mediocrity] the longer I go using my powerbook as my primary (only) desktop machine, the deeper certain things become ingrained in my daily routines. one big example is growl. so, in honour of the latest release (0.7) i thought i'd publicly exclaim just how much i like having growl. for those that haven't tasted this particular kool-aid: growl provides a framework so that applications (on Mac OS X) can create little popups when "things happen". so, some examples are : when the song changes in iTunes, new mail arrives, or someone says something in iChat or Adium. the interesting thing is that human brains are *really* good at recognizing patterns, and determining (almost instantly) relative importance. so, without really looking up from the code, email or blog entry i'm currently writing, i can stay on top of other things going on - without having to switch applications, etc. for example: i'm currently writing a blog post, and without changing apps (or even pausing) i can see that iTunes just...
