Apple to Pivotal: Take the 'pod' out of Podium

[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] An excerpt from the cease and desist letter provided to TUAW states that "The term POD has also been adopted and used extensively in the marketplace by consumers as an abbreviation to refer to Apple's IPOD player. The IPOD and POD marks indicate to consumers that a broad range of products, including portable electronic devices, computer software, and related goods and services bearing those marks and marks similar thereto originate from or are sponsored or endorsed by Apple."

Apple set to report Q4 Earnings October 21

[Edible Apple] Analysts, however, do correctly point out that the iPod line from Apple seems to have run its course. While the days of iPod as king are behind us, Apple has shown itself to be quite adept at introducing new iPods with small but significant upgrades that keep consumers coming back for newer models. So while the market for iPods and other mp3 players is indeed saturated, Apple is able to counteract this with new models that consumers are willing to pay for. But even if iPod sales start to shrink dramatically, analysts, for whatever reason, seem to quickly gloss over the record setting number of Macs Apple is selling each and every quarter. When it comes to profit margins, the Mac is Apple’s MVP, yet analysts like to focus on the impending decline of the iPod. Moreover, with the iPhone selling even better than expected, there seems to be no shortage of promising news coming out of Cupertino. But if history is any indication, don’t expect the analysts to fully understand what’s going on.

iPod Nano (4th generation) - Review

[MyMac.com: Macintosh reviews and editorials] Not counting the iPod Touch (since that’s more of a crippled iPhone than an iPod), the 3rd Gen. Nano was the first other than the classic iPod line to be able to play video derived from your own digital video collection (using HandBreak or similar software to rip DVDs or acquired from iTunes…LEGALLY) and at the time I just couldn’t see myself viewing video on such a small screen (measured 2-inches diagonally).

Spotlight and iPod

[TiKouka] My problem, however, isn’t solved. Even after disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod I do an update and still can’t remove the iPod because it’s “in use”. A look at Activity Monitor tells me that something called massStorage is busy working its way through my iPod. It seems suspiciously similar to what indexing might do.
