[iCreate] With a series of qualifications to his name including a masters degree in computer science, he quickly gained authority at Apple. In 1979, Raskin pulled together a small team and produced a working prototype of a computer aimed at the mass market that offered an all-in-one solution, as easy to use as a toaster.

[MacInTouch] Apple: Mac 25 Years: Our university's OIS department had set up "Media Mac", a Quadra 950 with tons of RAM, a 20" color display, a VideoSpigot video capture card and editing software, a secondary 13" 16-bit color monitor for video, Photoshop 2.5, PageMaker, a Bernoulli drive, a Color OneScanner and a LaserWriter II NTX. I booked time on the machine as often as possible, creating graphics in Photoshop, pulling them into page layouts, capturing and editing postage-stamp sized (but no less impressive!)
[Elitist Snob: Mac snobbery and such] Gourmet Deli Sandwich, ala Kent : Elitist Snob: Mac snobbery and such: For the best sandwich, you will need to bake your own bread, but this can take quite a commitment, since most of the breads I bake take around 5 hours from start to finish. While Wal-Mart (and some other grocery stores) don’t necessarily sell top quality bread, they sometimes do sell a loaf of ciabatta or Italian which are decent, and worth it if you don’t have the time or patience to bake your own loaf.
[Baseball Toaster] Baseball Toaster: The Juice Blog : Rating the Top Announcers in ...: Scully and Garagiola worked together for most of the world series I watched growing up and I was never as big of a fan of them together, as I was the backup team for NBC of Kubek and Costas. I think DXMachina really nails the point of how sad it is that 2 of the all-time best announcers, Costas and Michaels haven't done baseball in years, even though it was the sport they initially built their names on.
[Put Things Off] Shortcut Shoot-out: Typinator vs TextExpander vs FasterFox vs ...: I liked this because I use typo auto-correction in TextExpander and on occasion it’s minutely slow and I end up trying to fix the typo at the same time it does. This delay is only by a couple of milliseconds but when you write for a living or spend a lot of time at the computer you try to fix typos so quickly it’s more instinct than conscious decision.

[IxDA Discussion] IxDA Discussion: Interaction Designers: What is your elevator pitch?: If they ask for an example, I say, "A good UX manager will not only make sure your new splash page matches your e-postcard and advertising, they'll tell you the best time of the day and week to send the email and how frequently your users like to be contacted about site updates." Or I might talk about structuring information around the content and audience ("taxonomy"
[Supersite] Windows, not Walls - SuperSite Blog: So what we have here is a tendency to compare Apple to other PC makers when it suits your argument on price and to compare them to Microsoft when it suits your argument about relevance, influence and sustainability. You complain about Apple's high profits compared to the Dell's of the world, even though Microsoft's margins are double Apple's, yet compare their market share not to Dell but to Microsoft.

I also buy lots of 365 plain nonfat yogurt and make a variety of flavors by mixing it with whatever I’ve got on hand: honey, almonds, granola, cinnamon, vanilla extract, strawberries, bananas, or blueberries.

[gapingvoid cartoons] gapingvoid: "cartoons drawn on the back of business cards ...: Bearing the tagline, "Microsoft: Change the world or go home," the Blue Monster represents the vision and the passion of the company's employees: so passionate about what they do, if they can't make the world a better place, they should go home. Maybe the monster is just what Microsoft needs to draw more attention to the fact that, despite the lawyers and stockholders, they, too, have passionate employees who feel like they are changing the world in a positive way.The Blue Monster was referred to as "Microsoft's unofficial mascot." That made my day.
