Love the Mac > Big News: Apple Switching to Intel!

In 1984 when the Macintosh was launched in front of a crowd of journalists, the Mac told the audience (through its speech synthesizer) “Never trust a computer you can’t lift”, referring to an IBM mainframe.
[Digg.com] Apple IS GOING TO ditch IBM, switch to Intel chips: Plus, I wouldn't doubt if the Intel chip is dubbed the G6 and we start seeing 3-4GHz lines of Apple processors. Not to mention that with Intel building the chips, we can expect to see some Hyperthreading and Dual-core action, as well as a mobile chip that will allow Apple to create a centrino-size laptop for people.
[Macworld.com] Editors' Notes Weblog: Apple on Intel?: The console processors that IBM has revealed so far are highly specific processors that aren't attractive to Apple because they have stripped a lot of circuitry out that is essential to complex software programs these days. Even console watchers are criticizing these moves because the chips seem tailor-made to produce shiny graphics, but have actually removed a lot of the circuitry that is designed to make computer enemies behave intelligently, rather than simply run forward in a straigh line shooting wildly.
