Love the Mac > Attack of the Mac mini clones
[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] Attack of the Mac mini clones Posted May 31, 2005, 1:32 PM ET by Scott McNulty Filed under: HardwareFirst I read that Intel is creating a Mac mini look alike over at Wire News, and now faithful TUAWer Jermey forwards us this pic of the mini knockoff (which goes by the name Pandora) from Forever Geek: Wired points out that this will not be the first small form factor PC on the Windows side, but it does bear a striking resemble to a certain Mac that shall remain nameless, though that large power button is a little obnoxious if you ask me...

[Intelliot.com] Elliot Lees Blog » Blog Archive » Mac Mini in comparison to Dell: Although I can’t stand Dell and I prefer Apple over windows, I’m glad to see that someone has brought forward information because Apple likes to misinform (which they really arn’t doing, they are just chosing their words wisely, haha). I give them credit though cause if you think about it, most people don’t actually do the research and they are almost garunteed to sell more then if they would have not fabricated the truth so much, haha.
[Intelliot.com] Elliot Lees Blog » Free Mac Mini from FreeMiniMacs.com: Here’s a perspective from the Other Side. I’m one of a group of folks who have found unauthorized charges on their credit cards from Blockbuster, TLG (Trilegiant, owner of Great Fun, Autovantage, ad nauseum), and TWX (a magazine outfit.) Somehow somebody got hold of our credit card and personal information, set up fake emails (no doubt to answer validation requests), and signed us up for these offers so they could get themselves a free iPod or Mac mini. Perhaps they figure it’s safer, or less trackable, than using the credit card to buy stuff outright. I tracked most of the charges on my card to referrals from metareward.com, aka OrangeBrick.com, one of those “free stuff” offerers, which was recently acquired by Experian (yes, the credit bureau.) If anybody here can contribute info toward our investigations, please email me at trispy27@hotmail.com. Thanks.
[Nodrm.com] noDRM.com » Blog Archive » Plasma Mounted Mac mini: Since it appears to pull fresh air from the base, and circulate it out the back, there are two problems with how it’s mounted: 1) the air that it is pulling is now from the back of the plasma, which if it’s vented the way it appears to be vented, it means that the air may be a little warm. So, the Mac Mini is getting slightly warmer air from its source, and… 2) By placing the vent of the Mac Mini downwards, you’re playing against physics. Hot air rises (i realize there is a fan), and so it will be mor work for the Mini to circulate the air.
[Theradblog.typepad.com] the RAD blog: Mac Mini in a Lexus: Can the touchscreen even talk to to the mini without a special driver? Why even use a Pioneer mega $1000 unit when you could use a PDA running VNC, build a cool mount for it that pivots or a dock, run 1/8" audio out of the Mac or use a USB 24 bit sound interface and a regular old power amp. No regular radio needed. Plus, with some hacked software tied into the mini and some relays, you could start your car remotely from the PDA via WIFI by VNC with the Mac in sleep mode.
[Dotnetjunkies.com] Get a Free Mac Mini: I saw the offer for free mini macs online a couple months back but I figured I'd hold off on trying it until I heard of some people who actually received their Mini Mac. Well I've heard of a couple people receiving them so I decided to join in on the fun.
