Apple and Intel
[JustinFrench.com] Apologies for the lack of activity here lately. I’ve had plenty of things in various stages of drafting, but somehow they’ve never quite made it live, including my take on the whole Apple-Intel thing.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Marc Liu - Interactive Media Designer] BBDC: I think it's cool that Steve Jobs is making such a bold move to switch to Intel. And apart from lagging sales of the existing PowerPC Macs, I believe that it's the correct decision.
[Theappleblog.com] The Apple Blog: The discussion came to a head today, when Fortune published a story quoting Michael Dell, former Dell Computer CEO (current Chairman of the Board), as saying “If Apple decides to open the Mac OS to others, we would be happy to offer it to our customers.”
[Clone.taoofmac.com] The Tao of Mac - blog/2005-06-05.23:21: Regardless of what transpires this Monday, here are five common mistakes that I've seen repeated all over the Internet:
[Netscape.com.com] Apple | News.blog | CNET News.com: Other recently applied for trademarks include "iPod Socks" and "Voiceover," which Apple registered in January, with its application covering a "computer apparatus and software for the navigation and control of computer hardware, peripheral apparatus, computer operating system software, computer applications, and computer utility software."
[Edn.com] Apple: Intel Inside? - Brian's Brain - Blog on EDN - 400000040: "Apple Computer plans to announce Monday that it's scrapping its partnership with IBM and switching its computers to Intel's microprocessors, CNET News.com has learned. Apple has used IBM's PowerPC processors since 1994, but will begin a phased transition to Intel's chips, sources familiar with the situation said.
[Houseofwarwick.com] house of warwick : house of warwick: Like a rabid animal, I've senselessly plowed through web sites for most of the last 12 hours trying to get a jump on this Apple+Intel thing. I've seen several discussion group posts and some are littered with people saying that a switch to an Intel processor is a "slap in the face" to the Mac user and people will leave because of it.
