Sonnet Jive in Powermac G5 - MacTalk Forums

[MacTalk Forums] FYI: when I looked at adding more storage to it, the more flexible/safer solution seemed to be a PCI-X card (Sonnet/Firmtek/LaCie at the low end or Highpoint/CalDigit/G-Technology at the high end) and using some combination of Mini-SAS/Port Multiplier/Multilane Infiniband, and an external enclosure (most of the above can provide both, using varying combinations of the mentioend technologies).

Let your Mac take dictation

[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] But one apropos mistake that was included was when Dictate turned the sentence "I called MacSpeech Dictate's technical support and asked them why that is." to "I called MacSpeech Dictate's debacle support and asked them why it is.". With all due respect to all the tech support people at MacSpeech, changing "technical support" to "debacle support" is just a perfect and apt piece of comedy.

So if you right-click on an app and choose to delete it, iTunes will ask you if you want to move it to the Trash or leave it in your Mobile Applications folder (generally ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications).

When I went to the Apple Store to pick up my new iPhone 3G, it turns out that when I purchased my original iPhone in November 2007 that they didn't enter it into the system properly.

Beta Beat: Dropzone for Mac OS X

[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] Quicksilver can also do similar things to Dropzone using its Drag and Drop mouse triggers, but this doesn't allow you to visually choose a destination by dragging onto it like Dropzone does and you are also limited to 4 corners. This feature is more of an afterthought in Quicksilver and leaves a lot to be desired.

[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] I checked with the company president, Daniel Chin, and he told me: "What we did is obtain the MagSafe connector and cable from the original MacBook AC adapter, remove the adapter and splice in our own charger plug, which interfaces with our battery and car charger products. Since we are using the original Apple MagSafe plug and did not modify the actual plug (which the patent in question covers) in any way, we are still respecting Apple's IP and in no way infringing upon their patent."
