[dougmcclure.net] One of their very innovative solutions is the use of Google Calendar’s API for visualization of enterprise monitoring data, scheduling and communicating change requests, maintenance windows, etc. They’re also doing some neat portal stuff using Web 2.0 sites like Pageflakes, 24eyes and RSS feeds.

Replacing a damaged Powerbook Screen yourself?

[Ask MetaFilter | Community Weblog] Just recently my friend dropped his beloved 17" Powerbook G4, while the end result was pretty bad, as in the screen was completely smashed, the rest of the unit is still in good condition. Luckily I have been able to find a replacement screen at a pretty good price, and I am looking to replace/attach it myself.

Rig of the Day: Powerbooks

I've got a 3400c myself that I intend to turn into a picture frame some day (because I have so much free time).

[Tiernans Comms Closet] There are rumors going around (like this one over at Ars Technica's Infinate Loop) saying that a 17" Mac Book Pro could be on the cards as early as Sunday. Its an interesting idea, and if true, i will be thinking about one of those insted of the 15" model.

Europe, That Foreign Nation

[The Tao of Mac - HomePage] We definitely don't need third-world customer experiences added to that, and Matt's plight is therefore another example of how Apple needs to beef up their European operation, the nadir of which consists (in my opinion) of my colleagues making a detour by the Regent Street Apple Store when they visit our corporate mothership in the UK and buy their laptops there even knowing they had to incur the additional expense of buying a Portuguese keyboard.

Video of a MacBook Pro stomping a PowerMac G5 compiling Java

[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] What's a big news day without a little bit of a hardware smack down? Call me crazy, but I just found this Gear Live site through diggdot.us, and these guys posted a video podcast in a variety of formats of a MacBook Pro with a (comparatively) measly 1 GB RAM making mince meat out of a Dual 2.0 GHz PowerMac G5 with 4 GB RAM in a Java compile test.

Old Radeon 32mb graphics card from G4 --> New G5. PCI issues?

[Ask MetaFilter | Community Weblog] except that i remember people complaining that there were no SCSI cards for PCI-X and for whatever reasons the PCI SCSI cards would not work. i assumed this meant that there must be a physical reason, like the connector being different, that PCI cards couldnt be plugged into PCI-X slots.

Widget Watch: iStat pro

[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] I use this widget, though I really prefer to use Activity Monitor for cpu monitoring, with the added bonus of having the seperate monitor and changable dock monitor for different information. This widget is just a nice follow-up for the trips to dashboard for notes or weather checks/gmail checks.

[My Other Side of the Stories] I've been using DOS and Windows for about 18 years, so, trust me, using iBook is really a big adventures to me. For example, it took a day to figure that I should press Ctrl + click to bring up the pop up menu similar to Right mouse click.

Python and Universal Binaries on Mac OS X

[from __future__ import *] The latest binary release of Universal Python is currently available in Ronald's iDisk (make sure to get 2006-04-07 or later)! There is/was an older Universal Python build available somewhere on python.org but it is NOT what you should be using (it's built without compiler optimization and is roughly 50% slower on either architecture!)

Is it possible to share network/internet connection via a usb dongle (from XP)?

[Ask MetaFilter | Community Weblog] Yes, I shared the internet connection as above and selected both the wireless device and the LAN connection and chose to bridge them in the hope that this would push the connection through the uSB dongle, however the 2 won't bridge if the LAN is shared. So I unshared the LAN, bridged the 2 devices again and turned sharing back on but the this didn't seem to work.

As we all know, the eps were edited for syndication over the years, then released unedited on VHS and then bought by SciFi and restored.
