Fix It Up Good
[[BrockLi] Home] As mentioned earlier, I stopped into the Apple Store this weekend to see if they'd replace the screen on my iBook. The border around the screen had a couple small cracks in it that appeared to be a result of stress from some components inside pushing their way out.

Apple : 2005.07.13 04.33.43
[Garoo - Blog] I can understand that the Dashboard’s developers wouldn’t want to delete the code that makes the widget well appear and the widgets above move around, but when you’re developing an OS (and for Apple, moreover) that’s not a sufficient excuse to add an extra layer of complexity to the interface, instead of simply replacing it with a simple manager. What fundamental reason is there to prevent users from drag-and-dropping widgets straight from the manager to the Dashboard?

Starting Over, For The First Time
[Selfgratification: Do It Yourself] (Aside: this is a job I used to have to do every so often with my Windows machines, because they needed it, this was just because I had never set up a Mac from scratch before and wanted to.) First up, I backed up selected parts of my home directory to the hard drive on my XP box (which is about the only use it gets these days) using PsyncX, then popped in the OS X install disc and off I went. It was acually such a painless experience that its not really worth writing about”¦ about 40 minutes later I was downloading system updates and messing about.

My Baby is Back
[Skockination] Knowing that it wasnt a hard drive problem, I figured it was a logic board problem as that is what a few people seemed to say out on the message boards. It was especially confusing because too many stupid people werent differentiating between the G3 iBook and the G4 iBook.

Macosx 10.4 tiger server - virtual hosts

Automate your Life Poster
[The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)] Automator was just what Jim needed, and so he went to work to create a workflow that would do most of the nitty gritty work for you. I think it would be nice if the workflow could do even more, like let you pick the 96 photos on the fly, but I think that is a limitation of Automator's and not of Jim's imagination.

Big News: Apple Switching to Intel!
[Richard Bluestein's Weblog] Maybe they see the future as Apple primarily becoming a software only house - after all what would the iPod be without iTunes? Or maybe becasue of the success of the Mac mini they think they can take on the PC manufactures at their own game?

Batch Document Conversion with OSX

Moto v265, Dashboard, and more.
[Red & Yellow Make Green] If my family was not under a Family plan with Alltel, and if the reception with Alltel wasnt so good here, I would switch to someone like Cingular and get a much better phone for the same price. Once I got my phone home, the first thing I did was head to Ebay to look for a cable to hook it up to my computer (like I said before, having bluetooth would have made this really simple), and no I wasn’t going to spend the $60 for the cable and Windows-only software from Motorola.

Some of you already have the "iTunes Phone"
[Late Night With Mr. X & Just Julie] (On a side note, I learned what "Motorola" stands for in a newspaper article: The "moto" comes from motor, and the "ola" comes from Victrola. "Whatever the details of Lear's selling job, the keys to the Stereo-8's spectacular success seems to have been linked to getting the backing of both Ford (tdf) and the recording industry.
